The Bayside Marina Hotel by Japanese firm Yasutaka Yoshimura Architects is based on the form of the shipping container, and is located on the seaside of Yokohama.
The prefabricated modular cottages were “randomly” placed on the site, allowing for each residence to have different views.
The long narrow containers have were pre-fabricated in Thailand and then assembled in Japan. Each unit is made up of two containers which are stacked upon one another, and is certainly an example that could be used to inspire other shipping container architects.
